I hesitated to buy this because the Amazon page doesn’t list the capacity of the battery anywhere, merely implies it’s the same as the original BPLS5. Turns out it’s labeled as 7800mAh, just like the original Sony.

It doesn’t seem to last much longer than my old Sony battery, but it’s still new and maybe it’ll get better after a few more charge cycles. That’s still quite respectable (my Vaio TX650 goes about 5 hrs), so I’m happy with it even though I was hoping for a bigger boost in battery life.

I had a battery die (quite early, too!) on my Sony Vaio VGN-TXN27N. My laptop was under warranty, but of course batteries are not covered. Official replacement batteries are insanely expensive, so I decided to look around for off-brands.

This battery was 1/3 the price of the official replacement, has a slightly smaller milliam-hour rating, and is a very slightly different shape. It was kind of a tight fit to install, but I think in retrospect thats a good thing, because it means the connector will wiggle less as you carry it around.

The battery life was quite good, almost as long as the original was when brand new (and thats expected, with a slightly lower mAh capacity) I don’t remember what I did with it to get the % to show up correctly in software, but I basically just followed the instructions. I bought this battery a year ago, and I’m happy to say that it still has a ~6 hour capacity for text editing.

Disclaimer: I take very good care of it, seldom discharging it below 50% and keeping it plugged in most of the time. In other words, I’m saying that it behaves as a lithium ion should, and has no prevalent defects.

I purchased this battery to replace my Vaio VGN-TX670 battery after it died a couple of weeks prior. Though this is not genuine Sony battery, it works just as well as the Sony one, could not detect any difference. It’s been over 4 months since I replaced it, but no issue.

Pretty happy with the value priced replacement.
